Neighborhood Trash Collection

In an effort to consolidate our neighborhood trash day, trustee Brent Walls got quotes from the three local companies. Rumpke offered the best deal: a monthly rate of $16/month.
From that base amount, you can rent a wheeling tote for an additional $1.50/month. This is the big, brown wheeler that some people already have.
You may also choose curb-side recycling for $4.00/month.
Rumpke has co-mingled recycling and provides a red bin to take to the curb. Allowable items are corrugated boxes, white ledger paper, folder, mail, envelopes, newspaper/ magazines, computer paper, aluminum cans, and plastic bottles #1 and #2.)
Rumpke has offered our neighborhood a discount with at least 80 people. About 40 people already had Rumpke, and 40 others were willing to switch, so we are good to go.
If you are already a Rumpke customer, Rumpke will be sending you something in the mail soon. The start date will be December 15. Trash pick-up will be Mondays, Recycling pick-up will be on Friday.
If you have already indicated that you want to switch to Rumpke, Brent Walls has sent your name to Rumpke, and you should receive information from them soon. If you want to switch, contact Brent at bwalls@gigohio.com.

Thefts and Safety Concerns

We have had several petty thefts in our neighborhood this past year. Most thefts have been loose change or ipods left in unlocked cars.
Please be sure to report these instances, sot the police can see a pattern of events. If your car has had something stolen, please contact the Sheriff’s office at 740-833-2800.
Although we don’t have a neighborhood watch formed, it is important that we keep our eyes open and report any activity that seems out of place. I know many of you know your neighbors and keep in touch with them.
Also, keeping lights on during the dark hours of night and early morning should help deter crime as well.
Please keep those lights on in the early morning for the middle school students getting on the bus (around 7:00 am). It’s very dark out there without the lights on.

We are a walking neighborhood

Drive Carefully
Please remember that elementary students in our neighborhood must walk to school. Between 8:30 a.m. -9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.-4:00 p.m., please be extra careful of children crossing the streets.

Snowy Weather
Also, if we have a snowfall, it is important to keep sidewalks clear so children can make their way home from school.
